FELSTED SCHOOL, ESSEX
The dining hall room of the Felsted School in Essex has a high pitched roof covered with woodwork and metal support beams. Taison had been asked to manufacture a special luminaire which would match the architectural design but also produce efficient ambience for the occupants. All the luminaires are suspended from the ceiling by metal rods and consists of a top canopy onto which light is projected from a Tungsten Halogen lamp housed in a suspended shallow spun dish.
The project was so successful that it received a great deal of publicity from the architectural press, including a front cover photograph in the architect’s journal. In addition, interest in the luminaire has resulted in this type of luminaire being installed on other prestigious projects.
